Responsible for providing welding and/or painting repairs and maintenance of commercial containers, solid waste vehicles and facilities as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Repair, paint and maintain commercial containers.
Use welding equipment to repair all sizes of commercial containers such as sleeves, lids and bottoms.
Provide help to Fleet Services as needed.
Keep in contact with internal and external customers by telephone.
Transport commercial containers needing paint or repair to the shop or holding area.
Drive and operate fork lift truck.
Make various repairs to solid waste vehicles that need welding either at the shop or at the site of breakdown.
Pick up service orders for delivery or exchange of commercial containers.
Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills
2-4 years of experience welding fabrication and painting
Driving experience with a good driving record
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to read and write, read maps and perform basic math
Advanced skill in MIG, TIG and stick welding
Skill in air arc gouging
Skill in utilizing a cutting torch
Skill in utilizing a plasma cutter
Skill in aluminum and various metal welding
Licenses & Certifications
Valid Class B Texas driver's license Welding Program Certification
Physical Tasks & Working Conditions
The incumbent works in a shop environment; occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.

Minimum Education & Work Experience
Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency 2 years of related experience Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
