Position Summary

Responsible for reviewing, initiating and closing service orders in an expeditious manner ensuring constant delivery of reliable City services. Also responsible for researching problems and questions related to connection and disconnection of utility services.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Close all types of service orders in the billing system.
  2. Add alerts to accounts with appropriate charges, if applicable.
  3. Create appropriate service orders based on customer’s actions.
  4. Provide data and information collected to management for operational decisions.
  5. Prepare service orders for daily work performed by field technicians.
  6. Review and verify all work has been completed by analyzing reports from data collection and data entry in the system.
  7. Prepare cut-off list detailing customers who had service disconnected throughout the day.
  8. Provide information, support and assistance in regards to field operations within Customer Service, other divisions and City departments by effectively utilizing all forms of communication.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

Education/ Experience:     

  • Six months advanced training or study past the high school level
  • 1 year experience in field service operations or related area

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:           

  • Basic knowledge of city street and address systems
  • Basic knowledge of public contact techniques and principles
  • Skill in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Document Imaging, Outlook)
  • Aptitude to learn and utilize Banner CIS
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and assignments
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Must be able to rotate monthly into the following shifts:
Monday-Friday 7am-4pm
Monday-Friday 10am-7pm
Monday-Thursday 8am-7pm
Tuesday-Friday 8am-7pm

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D)
 Six months experience in field service operations or related area
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
