  • Position Summary

    Responsible for providing entry level day-to-day administrative and business support to EWS Department and carrying out administrative responsibilities as established through departmental needs.

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Process customer transactions utilizing specialized scale software.
    2. Accurately recording weights of incoming waste and monitoring incoming loads for unauthorized waste.
    3. Conducts charge, check and cash customer transactions.
    4. Inspects conditions in scale house and surrounding area for appearance, cleanliness,  and safety.
    5. Provide entry level day-to-day administrative and business support.
    6. Respond to basic citizen inquiries through answering telephone calls, e-mails or face-to-face communication and direct calls and inquiries to appropriate personnel.
    7. Ensures customer compliance with facility rules and notifies supervisors of violations as necessary.
    8. Prepare and maintain office files, including office filing
    9. Collect and organize data to generate reports, presentations, and assist with research and projects.
    10. Maintain department accounting records including invoices, expenses and office supply orders.
    11. May send, receive and distribute documents, including faxes and correspondence to appropriate department personnel and customers.

    Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

    Education/ Experience:    

    • Up to 1 year advanced study or training beyond the high school level
    • 1-2 years administrative experience

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Basic  skills in PC and systems application
    • Good customer service and telephone etiquette skills
    • Good organizational skills
    • Good oral and written communications skills
    • Ability to multitask

    Licenses & Certifications

     Valid Class C Texas driver's license

    Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

    The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. The incumbent will be required to stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
    The hours of operation at the Landfill Scale house are Monday through Friday 7:00AM – 5:30PM and Saturday 7:00AM – 3:00PM. Staff is rotated to work on some Saturdays.

    Minimum Education & Work Experience

     High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.)
     Up to 1 year related experience
    Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
