  • Position Summary

    Responsible for overseeing and coordinating small construction and renovation projects insuring quality, and customer satisfaction.  Also responsible for inspecting jobsites daily to ensure progress, quality, and coordination with contractors.



    Essential Job Functions

    1. Track building permit progress.
    2. Attend project meetings.
    3. Visit jobsites daily to inspect the quality and progress of work.
    4. Verify the correct materials and supplies are ordered and stocked for projects as needed.
    5. Act as point-of-contact between the contractor and the department whose project is being completed.
    6. Attend a punch-list walk through at the close-out of a project.
    7. Obtain quotes from contractors on future and existing projects.
    8. Monitor financial expenditures to ensure projects stay within approved funding and within stated timeframes.
    9. Review contractor invoices to ensure proper billing.
    10. Assist Construction Services on larger projects as needed.
    11. Assist Facilities supervisors with contractor oversight and project paperwork.

    Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

    Education/ Experience:     

    • Four-year college degree
    • 2-3 years experience as a project coordinator or superintendent on small to large commercial construction projects
    • 5-10 years of experience in a building trade, i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:           

    • Good working  knowledge of construction procedures
    • Effective and professional communication skills
    • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
    • Ability to negotiate with City departments and contractors
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in various phases of completion
    • Ability to independently identify and prioritize building deficiencies
    • Skill in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Outlook and Project)
    • Skill with office equipment
    • Ability to read project plans and manuals

    Licenses & Certifications

     Valid Class C Texas driver's license

    Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

    Incumbent works with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Some work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Some tasks requiring physical labor, exposure to dust, paint fumes and travel to various sites may occur.
