  • Position Summary

    Position located at Landfill and responsible for working on heavy Landfill equipment and operating fuel truck for the equipment.

     

    Target Hiring Range: $18.65/hr - $23.29/hr

    Essential Job Functions

    1. Perform preventative maintenance on landfill equipment and fuel trucks
    2. Diagnose and repair landfill equipment and fuel trucks
    3. Order necessary parts as needed
    4. Maintain a clean and orderly work space
    5. Respond to road calls
    6. Diagnose and repair hydraulic or electrical systems
    7. Ensure work quality on all repair and/or maintenance services.

    Minimum Education & Work Experience

    6 months to 1 year advanced study past the high school level
    3 years related experience
    1 ASE Certification or ability to obtain 1 ASE within six months of hire
    Must own basic hand and air tools
    Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

    Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

    Education/ Experience:     

    • Advanced training in automotive and diesel mechanics
    • 3-5 years’ experience in auto/diesel/equipment repair and diagnosis
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • General knowledge of automotive repair and diagnostics
    • General knowledge of Fleet software processes
    • Skill in utilizing Shop Key software
    • Skill in performing preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
    • Skill in prioritizing and meeting deadlines
    • Skill in hydraulic system repair
    • Skill in diagnosing vehicle repairs
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
    • Skill in electric diagnostics

    Licenses & Certifications

    Must obtain 2 ASE Certifications within 1 year of hire
    Valid Class A Texas Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

    Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

    The incumbent works in a fleet shop environment; occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Occasional outside work.
