Position Summary

The City of Garland Student Ambassador Program provides paid internships to high school, college and skilled trades students each year. In support of the City Manager’s Strategic Initiative- Future-Focused City Organization- students will gain valuable work, community and public service experience through various positions throughout the City. Essential Job Functions

  • May be responsible for various administrative/office tasks and assignments in the department, working independently or as part of a team or work group.
  • May assist in preparing written reports, communication or correspondence on behalf of the department.
  • May attend various events and functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 High School, Trade or College Student
 At least 16 years of age

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment (i.e. scanner, fax and photocopier)
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage time and meet project commitments
  • Ability to take on challenges and learn at a quick pace.

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from any environmental hazards or conditions.
