Position Summary

The City of Garland Student Ambassador Program provides paid internships to high school, college and skilled trades students each year. In support of the City Manager’s Strategic Initiative- Future-Focused City Organization- students will gain valuable work, community and public service experience through various positions throughout the City. Essential Job Functions

  • May be responsible for various tasks and assignments in the department, working independently or as part of a team or work group.
  • May be tasked with projects requiring the understanding and use of basic tools or equipment.
  • May be required to interact with the public, City patrons or other partners.
  • May attend various events and functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 High School, Trade or College Student
 At least 16 years of age

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to manage time and meet project commitments
  • Basic understanding of safety guidelines and protocol
  • Ability to take on challenges and learn at a quick pace.

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

Depending on the location of the internship, the incumbent may receive assignments in a variety of settings including office environments or City facilities that are both indoor/outdoor.
