Position Summary

Responsible for safeguarding the organization’s computer networks and systems by identifying risks, planning and implementing security measures, and monitoring security systems to protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks.

 

Essential Job Functions

  1. Identify security risks and present risk assessment to management.
  2. Design, develop, implement and enhance security architecture and technologies to mitigate risks and support business and technology solutions
  3. Review, assess and recommend superior tools, application and processes in the dynamic security market
  4. Identify and conduct periodic assessments within the environment, identify and update risk assessment
  5. Act as the subject matter expert for security tools, applications and processes
  6. Identify, manage and report key security performance indicators to management
  7. Interact directly with infrastructure team to align and execute infrastructure changes to support security practices
  8. Author and maintain policy and process documentation for compliance and proper operation and maintenance of tools
  9. Lead the implementation and maintenance of the selected cyber security framework
  10. Participate in the management of relationships with security vendors

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 Four-year college degree, formal technical training or a combination of college and training.
 Cisco CCNA Certification (current)
 Five years related experience in a Microsoft Windows environment with 5 or more physical locations, 1,000 or more users and 150 or more servers
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

Education/ Experience:     

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering or related field of study
  • 7 years Microsoft Windows Server experience
  • 5 years experience in an information security role
  • 2+ years Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database experience
  • 2 years multi-factor authentication experience

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the latest security principles, techniques and protocols
  • Knowledge of cyber security frameworks
  • Knowledge of IT organizational practices
  • Strong communication skills - ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical staff
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical capabilities and outstanding problem-solving skills

 

Licenses & Certifications

 CISSP or similar information security certification preferred (or acquire within one year of employment)
 CEH or similar penetration testing certification preferred (or acquire within one year of employment)
 Valid Class C Texas Driver's license

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

The incumbent works in a typical office environment; relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
