Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring the safety of pool guests while enjoying the opportunity to work in a fun environment. The lifeguard team is full of fun, energetic, and hard working people who can successfully complete the International Lifeguard Training Program Course.  Prerequisites for the course include swimming 200 yards without stopping, treading water for 2 minutes without the use of hands and retrieving a 10 pound brick from the bottom of a 12 foot pool.

 

Starts at $15.00/hr

Essential Job Functions

  1. Observe and Monitor patrons in the water and on surrounding deck areas.
  2. Check pool and surrounding areas for hazards and potential problems.
  3. Implement departmental emergency procedures.
  4. Provide water safety and training, assist patrons in distress.
  5. Ensure cleanliness and order of aquatic facility.
  6. Administer First Aid and CPR as needed.
  7. Assist with programs and classes as needed.
  8. Provide outstanding guest service.

Minimum Education & Work Experience

 Must be sixteen years of age
 No experience required
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Knowledge - Abilities & Skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:           

  • Knowledge of water safety and rescue procedures
  • Ability to swim well
  • Ability to administer First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Licenses & Certifications

 Must obtain Ellis and Associates Pool and Water Park Lifeguard certification through City of Garland training course
 Valid Class C Texas driver's license preferred

Physical Tasks & Working Conditions

The incumbent typically works in an indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to all weather conditions under direct sunlight and may be required to walk, bend, stoop, and climb five to six foot ladder.
