Responsible for analyzing the public’s library needs, selecting library materials and advising the public in their use of library resources at the Central Library or at a branch library. As a School Crossing Guard, you will escort children to and from school safely across various streets and intersections. The City of Garland offers on-the-job training, and you will have weekends, holidays, and summers off.
School Crossing Guards work two hours per day, Monday-Friday.
One hour in the morning from 7:15 am – 8:15 am and one hour in the afternoon from 3:15 pm – 4:15 pm. (10-15 hours per week)

Also responsible for inspecting and monitoring vegetation management contractors to ensure conformance to GP&L Transmission Vegetation Management Program and NERC FAC-003-6 Standard Responsible for inspecting transmission ROW, access, mechanical condition of electric facilities, vegetation growth to ensure system reliability and safety including supporting documentation, reports and work orders.
Responsible for operating heavy equipment and other vehicles for the purpose of excavating, processing, compacting substances on a daily basis. Also, responsible for the efficient operation and care of assigned equipment. This position will normally operate a bulldozers, compactors, or excavators in addition to water truck, dump truck, roll-off truck at the landfill site.
Responsible for maintaining, constructing and retrofitting electric substation equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, switches, battery systems, tap changers, cooling systems, lighting arresters, and other substation equipment, including the placement of concrete drilled shaft foundations and pads, installing support steel structures, station insulators, ground grids and bus.
Responsible for working the receiving/shipping dock area to receive, sort, unpack and verify shipments against packing slips, and invoices for new library materials and to manage deliveries to other library personnel for additional processing. Also, responsible for simple mending of library materials, and shelving of incoming periodicals and newspapers issues.

Responsible for performing maintenance and upkeep duties of City parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields and related facilities.

Responsible for maintaining and improving application delivery and support for the City of Garland’s information systems including requirements analysis, product evaluation and negotiation, application implementation and ongoing technology support.
Respond to citizen calls for service, enforce criminal and traffic laws, reduce crime and fear of crime within the City of Garland.
